In 2013, at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships, Jones set national records in both the 100m and 200m hurdles for the 13-14 age group, marking the beginning of her illustrious career.

At just 15 years old, Tia made headlines by winning the 100m hurdles at the USA Junior Championships, where she matched the world junior record and ran the fastest time ever recorded by a 15-year-old. Jones continued to build on her early success, setting a personal best of 12.38 seconds in the 100m hurdles in 2022, and setting the American Record in the 60m hurdles at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships.
